Steven McDougall out for a Month
Airdrie United have been dealt a massive blow with the news that winger Steven McDougall will be out for a month after suffering an Achillies injury in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat by Ross County at Victoria Park.
The tricky youngster was out of favour for most of the first half of the season but his return to the team co-incided with Airdrie’s return to form and his absence will be felt badly.
Although I am aware McDougall has nowhere near fulfilled his potential and can be very frustrating at times, the importance of someone who can run with the ball and deliver crosses cannot be underestimated and it’s no surprise to me that our form picked up when he came back.
Meanwhile, ex-Airdrie star and rumoured signing target Willie McLaren has returned to training with St Johnstone after reportedly going AWOL before Christmas. Unconfirmed reports claim that McLaren had not been seen or heard of in several weeks, but has now returned to training with the Perth club.
If true, this would almost certainly bring an end to his McDermaid Park career, possibly opening the door for a return to New Broomfield to fill the void created by McDougall’s injury.

We defintley need fresh faces now - the squad was small enough and now with McDougall out we’re even more up against it.
3-4 new faces are needed if we are to launch a promotion bid.
