Airdrie United manager Kenny Black

Airdrie boss Kenny Black is in confident mood ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup clash with Premier League side Kilmarnock.

Black, who gave his players Monday and Tuesday off as a reward for their good recent form, was involved in a number of giantkilling upsets with Airdrieonians and sees no reason why his in-form side can’t claim an SPL scalp against Killie.

The manager told the official club website that he believes his side can defeat Killie.

I will not be telling the players to enjoy themselves, I will be telling them to win. I believe we can win, we are at home and we are on a good run, so there is no reason to be less than optimistic. We are all looking forward to it.

The manager will be without long-term injury victims David Gillies and James Sharp, while Graeme Holmes remains on the sidelines after being forced off in the recent victory over Queens Park.

The manager has confirmed he is continuing to look for new players who can come in and improve the team.
