Airdrie United vs Kilmarnock Match Preview
Airdrie United look set to finally get their Scottish Cup tie against SPL side Kilmarnock played this evening when they take on the Rugby Park outwith at New Broomfield. The match is a 7.45 kickoff and a good crowd is expected to cheer on the Diamonds.
Airdrie are coming off the back of a 2-1 victory over Alloa on Saturday in a match which fortunately does not seem to have brought any fresh injury concerns.
Top scorer Allan Russell, who would have been a doubt if the game had gone ahead last Tuesday, came through the match unscathed and will start.
Airdrie are likely to be without midfielder Marco Andreoni however, leaving a gap in the midfield. Airdrie experimented with a 3-1-4-2 on Saturday, but I would expect to see us revert back to a 4-4-2 this evening.
Predicted Lineup:
Robertson; Smith, Donnelly, Campbell, Lovering; Prunty, McDonald, McKenna, Waddell; Russell, Noble.
That may well change, however if Graeme Holmes is passed fit to play or, of course, if Kenny Black is able to thrash out a deal to extend Andreoni’s loan spell until the end of the season.
Kilmarnock are in poor form at the moment and suffered another home defeat on Saturday, but with players of the quality of ex-Airdrieonians striker David Fernandez in their ranks, they still are the favourites to win tonight.
Score Prediction:
Airdrie United 1 - 1 Kilmarnock
